Microfiction Monday 72

Every week, Susan posts a picture, and anyone who fancies playing can post a story of 140 characters or less.

Here's this week's picture and my entry:

It was hard when her husband was away at war, but at least she’d had a job. Now all the other men had come home, and she didn’t have either.

  1. Oh no!! :-( Poor woman!! How harsh for her!! Fab story though in so few words, thank you! take care

  2. OH, I really liked that one sentence- so much said with so little words and I even got a feeling for the voice. Really great job!

  3. Glad you liked it, guys. I've always had a bit of an interest in how both world wars in the last century actually pushed women's rights forward (at a ghastly and terrible cost, of course) because when men were sent to the front, women were needed to fill vacant jobs at home.

Then, when the wars were over and the men came home, women were expected to go back to what they had done before. Except lots of them were less than OK with that. . .

  4. Oh, how sad! That probably happened to many women. Well done--a good story in so few words!

I love comments!
